Dongducheon Oreubit Library Opens on the 9th... Wisdom, Creativity, and Communication for Youth

The Lifelong Education Center of Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 6th that the Dongducheon Orbit Library will officially open on the 9th.

'Orbit' means rising light, a name chosen with the hope that the infinite potential and hope of youth will rise together with the light.

The Orbit Library is located from the 4th to the 6th floors of the Complex Cultural Community Center, with a total floor area of 2,596㎡, and is equipped with a diverse collection of about 20,000 books, including youth-specialized books, children's books, and general books.

Specifically, the 4th floor of the library consists of a children's materials room, a toddler zone, and a children's experience zone; the 5th floor includes a general materials room, a 3D fairy tale experience zone, and a VR experience zone; the 6th floor houses a youth materials room, a Harmony Zone (including board game zone and webtoon zone), a smart sports zone, club rooms, and seminar rooms.

In addition to book spaces, comfortable resting areas and various ICT (Information and Communication Technology)-based experience spaces are provided, making it expected to be utilized as a complex cultural space for various age groups beyond the traditional functions of a library.

To enhance accessibility and convenience for users, Orbit Library has introduced AI guide robots, big data book recommendation services, laptop rental and return machines, unmanned return machines, and reservation lending machines to provide optimal book services.

Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays (the 6th floor is open until 9 p.m.), and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. The library is closed every Friday and on legal holidays.

The director of the Lifelong Education Center stated, "I hope Orbit Library will establish itself as a complex cultural space illuminated by the light of wisdom, creativity, and communication, and become a library that grows together with the citizens."
