Bitcoin surged about 50% in the month following former President Trump's election victory, surpassing $100,000 for the first time on the 4th and soaring to $103,900. This was driven by increased expectations for regulatory easing after Trump announced his intention to nominate Paul Atkins, who is favorable to cryptocurrencies, as the next chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Gary Gensler, who has actively blocked the expansion of the cryptocurrency industry in the U.S., will hand over his position to Atkins on the 20th of next month.
However, due to profit-taking following the sharp rise, Bitcoin gave back all its gains within a day. According to the cryptocurrency market data site CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin fell below the $100,000 mark in the early morning of the 6th Korean time and is currently trading at $96,677.27. Ethereum and Ripple fell by 2.06% and 5.69%, respectively, while Solana also dropped 1.33%. Dogecoin was trading at a price up 1.53%.
