New 'Digital·IT' Division Established Through Organizational Restructuring on the 10th... Department Head Appointments Expected
Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), has newly appointed four deputy governors who had been vacant. Lee Jong-o, Director of the Small and Medium Finance Supervision Bureau, was named deputy governor in charge of the newly established Digital·IT (Information Technology) division, and Han Gu, Director of the Bank Inspection 2 Bureau, was appointed deputy governor in charge of the Small and Medium Finance division.
On the 6th, the FSS announced that Governor Lee had carried out executive personnel appointments by newly appointing four deputy governors. Governor Lee appointed Lee Jong-o, Director of the Small and Medium Finance Supervision Bureau, as deputy governor in charge of Digital·IT, Han Gu, Director of the Bank Inspection 2 Bureau, as deputy governor in charge of Small and Medium Finance, Park Ji-sun, Director of the Human Resources and Training Bureau, as deputy governor in charge of Consumer Protection, and Kim Sung-wook, Director of the Planning and Coordination Bureau, as deputy governor in charge of Livelihood Finance.
An FSS official explained, "This personnel appointment was made to reorganize and strengthen the team through organizational restructuring and personnel changes in preparation for growing uncertainties in the financial market." Deputy Governor Hwang Sun-o, in charge of Strategic Supervision, will move to Planning and Strategy, and Deputy Governor Kim Beom-jun, in charge of Consumer Protection, will move to Insurance.
The FSS explained that for the newly established Digital·IT division, which will be created through the organizational restructuring scheduled to be announced on the 10th, the optimal candidate with broad insight and supervisory capabilities was appointed. For the Small and Medium Finance division, where important issues are concentrated, a department head with both expertise and execution ability was appointed as an executive. Additionally, to strengthen financial consumer protection and eradicate livelihood-related financial crimes, two department heads with excellent drive and political acumen were appointed as executives of the Financial Consumer Protection Office. The FSS plans to carry out department head personnel appointments along with the organizational restructuring announcement on the 10th.
Jong-oh Lee, Deputy Director of Digital & IT
The newly appointed Lee Jong-o, Deputy Governor of Digital·IT, joined the FSS in 2006 and has served as head of the Credit Supervision 4 Team in the Credit Supervision Bureau, head of the Sound Management Team in the Savings Bank Supervision Bureau, and head of the Credit Finance General Team in the Credit Finance Supervision Bureau. He has also held positions such as Deputy Director of the Credit Supervision Bureau and Director of the Credit Finance Supervision Bureau.
Deputy Director of Small and Medium Finance, Korea
The newly appointed Han Gu, Deputy Governor of Small and Medium Finance, joined the FSS in 2001 and has served as head of the Bank System Team in the Bank Supervision Bureau, head of the Secretary Team in the Secretariat, head of the Continuous Monitoring Team in the Special Bank Inspection Bureau, and has held roles such as Secretary General of the Secretariat, Director of the General Affairs Bureau, Director of the Human Resources Development Office, and Director of the Bank Inspection 2 Bureau.
Jiseon Park, Deputy Director of Consumer Protection
The newly appointed Park Ji-sun, Deputy Governor of Consumer Protection, joined the Insurance Supervisory Service in 1995 and has worked at the FSS since 1999, starting with the Supervision 4 Bureau. She has held positions such as head of the Retirement Pension Supervision Team in the Complex Financial Supervision Bureau, head of the Public Relations Planning Team in the Public Relations Office, Deputy Director of the Insurance Supervision Bureau, Director of the Public Relations Office, Director of the Insurance Supervision Bureau, and Director of the Planning and Coordination Bureau.
Seongwook Kim, Deputy Director of Minsheng Finance
The newly appointed Kim Sung-wook, Deputy Governor of Livelihood Finance, joined the FSS in January 2000 and has served as head of the Financial Situation Management Team in the Financial Situation Analysis Office, worked at the New York Office of the International Cooperation Bureau, head of the Macroprudential Supervision General Team in the Macroprudential Supervision Bureau, Director of the Human Resources Development Office, and Director of the Bank Inspection 1 Bureau.
Meanwhile, the term of the newly appointed deputy governors is from today until December 5, 2027.
