Opportunity Development Zone Selected Among Top 10 Policies That Shined in Buyeo-gun This Year

Buyeo County, Chungnam Province, announced on the 6th that it has released the "Top 10 Policies that Shined in Buyeo County in 2024," highlighting this year's major achievements in county administration.

According to the county, the top 10 policies were selected from 35 representative policies through a three-step process: the first round of departmental evaluation, the second round of online surveys, and the third round of committee evaluation, to choose initiatives that resonate with residents.

In the industrial and economic sector, the selected policies include: △Designation of the "Opportunity Development Zone" as a new leap forward for Buyeo County △Attracting 65 billion KRW investment from renewable energy companies △Creating 52.7 billion KRW in circulating added value through Goodtrae Pay, among others.

The county plans to focus on attracting high-tech industries such as secondary batteries through these achievements, thereby creating jobs.

In particular, Goodtrae Pay has been recognized for protecting local small businesses and driving stable growth in the regional economy.

In the welfare sector, the selected policies include: △Community collaboration and selection for the school complex facility (Bandabi Gymnasium) competition △The only county-level local government to be selected as an excellent municipality for child policy impact assessment for three consecutive years △Expansion of free vaccination support (HPV, influenza) for youth development, among others.

The county received high marks for its customized welfare policies that actively address various social needs and issues faced by the younger generation, such as children and adolescents, in response to population decline.

Through these efforts, the county plans to continue investing in a balanced approach to senior welfare.

In the environmental sector, the selected policies include: △Securing 13 billion KRW for the vegan leather bioindustry as a future growth engine △Transforming previously avoided facilities into desirable ones by securing 47.1 billion KRW for biogas and related facilities, among others.

The county expects these initiatives to serve as a crucial foundation for sustainable development through eco-friendly energy production and resource recycling.

In addition, the county will work to attract bio companies in connection with the Opportunity Development Zone.

In the administrative sector, the selected policies include: △Securing a record-high 148.1 billion KRW for the Chungnam balanced development project △Being the only region in Chungcheong Province to achieve the highest level (Grade 1) in the comprehensive integrity index for two consecutive years, among others.

Other major policies, though not included in the top 10, are: △Expanding veterans' allowances and establishing memorial facilities △Assigning road names to farm roads and vinyl greenhouses △Securing distribution channels for Buyeo chestnuts through collaboration with Lotte Wellfood, among others.

Park Jeonghyeon, the county governor, stated, "The Top 10 Policies that Shined in Buyeo County in 2024 are the result of collaboration and efforts by the local community and residents," and added, "We will continue to create a better Buyeo by implementing leading policies that meet the needs and changes of our residents."
