The Human Rights Center at Pukyong National University (Director Ham Hye-hyun) conducted a 'Human Rights Protection and Drug Prevention Campaign' on the 4th at Baekgyeong Square on the Daeyeon Campus, jointly with the Student Welfare Department, ahead of the UN World Human Rights Day on the 10th.
Students majoring in Police Crime Psychology at Pukyong National University volunteered directly in this campaign, providing information about the dangers of drugs that have been openly spreading recently on university campuses and raising awareness to inform university students about the seriousness of drug abuse.
The Police Crime Psychology students played drug prevention music they wrote and composed themselves while distributing flyers with the phrase "One encounter with drugs, an eternal farewell to the Earth" and conducted surveys. They also offered participants homemade bungeoppang, popcorn, and eggs.
Police officers from the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency and the Namhae Regional Maritime Police Agency also participated in the campaign, providing counseling to students at the event booth. Lee Seung-wook, a psychological counselor from Busan Prison, with the cooperation of Han Bu-sik, director of a treatment and rehabilitation facility with experience in drug recovery, informed students about the severity of drug abuse.
The Human Rights Center at Pukyong National University noted that students showed higher than expected interest and participation in this campaign and plans to continue collaborating with related organizations and groups to sustain such campaigns in the future.
