The Democratic Party of Korea has proposed discussions on impeachment to Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, who has effectively expressed support for the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
On the 6th, Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party, met with reporters at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, and said, "I personally called (Leader Han) and requested meetings several times through his chief secretary, but there has been no progress," adding, "We need to meet even at this moment."
He continued, "In this critical historical moment, it is only natural for the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties to meet," and stated, "We should properly discuss what it truly means to prioritize the people and the nation above all and fulfill our responsibilities."
Regarding whether he officially proposed a meeting with Leader Han concerning impeachment, Chief Spokesperson Cho emphasized, "I hope and propose that Leader Han make time to discuss this issue even now."
Chief Spokesperson Cho welcomed Leader Han's decision. He said, "Since Leader Han has stated his agreement with suspending President Yoon's duties, although late, it is truly fortunate," and added, "What is important is that the People Power Party respects the will of the people and does not stray from the flow of history, so as not to be swept away by the unstoppable tide of history."
