KDCA Announces 2023 National Childhood Vaccination Results
Ulsan City analyzed the 2023 national childhood vaccination status announced by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and found that Ulsan ranked first among 17 cities and provinces nationwide in vaccination rates for 6-year-olds (92.5%) and 2-year-olds (94.5%).
Additionally, the vaccination rates for 3-year-olds and 1-year-olds were 91.1% and 97.3%, respectively, ranking second nationwide.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency has been publishing the "National Childhood Vaccination Rate Status" annually since 2011 to use as basic data for establishing national vaccination policies, focusing on key age groups (1-3 years old, 6 years old).
According to the statistics, the national average complete vaccination rates by age this year were 89.8% for 6-year-olds, 89.2% for 3-year-olds, 92.9% for 2-year-olds, and 96.4% for 1-year-olds.
In Ulsan City, the rates were higher than the national average in all categories: 92.5% for 6-year-olds (up 2.7 percentage points), 91.1% for 3-year-olds (up 1.9 percentage points), 94.5% for 2-year-olds (up 1.6 percentage points), and 97.3% for 1-year-olds (up 0.9 percentage points).
In particular, the complete vaccination rates for 6-year-olds (92.5%) and 2-year-olds (94.5%) ranked first among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, with the 6-year-old rate of 92.5% being the highest since 92.2% in 2018.
This achievement appears to reflect the high awareness of the national vaccination program among parents in Ulsan, their active participation, and their strong interest in their children.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “Vaccination is the top priority to protect our children from preventable infectious diseases. If there are any missed vaccinations, please visit the nearest designated medical institution, consult with healthcare professionals, and complete the vaccinations as soon as possible.”
