Myeong Tae-gyun, a key figure suspected of interfering in candidate nominations, was indicted and detained on charges of violating the Political Funds Act, and he sent a letter from prison to President Yoon Seok-yeol.
Myeong's lawyer disclosed the letter to the press before the prosecution's investigation on the morning of the 5th, stating that it was a transcript of words dictated by Myeong.
The letter was titled "A Letter to President Yoon Seok-yeol."

In the letter, Myeong stated, "Solid concrete is not made from high-quality cement alone. It must be mixed well with angular gravel and coarse sand in the right proportions depending on various situations. That is exactly how state governance works! From the great traitor Myeong Tae-gyun."
Myeong's lawyer explained that "high-quality cement" refers to "supporters and those who only say good things," "angular gravel" refers to "opposition politicians and forces opposing the Yoon administration," and "coarse sand" refers to "media criticizing the Yoon administration."
Regarding Myeong referring to himself as a "great traitor," the lawyer said, "It seems Myeong feels a sense of indebtedness to President Yoon and his wife," and "He expressed that he feels deeply sorry and responsible for the situation that has arisen."
He added, "The overall intention of this letter is that President Yoon should listen to both good and bad feedback in a balanced way and govern the country well."

He was also charged with receiving 240 million won from candidates A and B, who were preliminary candidates in the local elections at the time.
