Appointment of Full-time Ombudsman and Operation of Dedicated Office, Increased Ability to Resolve Complaints
On the 5th, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held the appointment ceremony for the 3rd term of Yangsan City Ombudsmen and the unveiling ceremony of the office signboard.
The Yangsan City Ombudsmen are civil complaint investigators who monitor administration from the citizens' perspective and protect their rights and interests.
The main duties include ▲investigating and handling grievances filed by citizens ▲investigating, mediating, and resolving repetitive and chronic complaints ▲making recommendations when improvements are needed in administrative systems and operations.
Yangsan City formed the Yangsan City Ombudsmen in 2015, the first in Gyeongnam Province, and after the 1st and 2nd terms consisting of three part-time ombudsmen, this year appointed the 3rd term with one full-time ombudsman and five part-time ombudsmen.
The newly appointed ombudsmen are experts with rich experience in various fields, including former high-ranking public officials, current professors, investigators from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and former teachers, and they plan to actively respond to diverse citizen demands and strive to resolve citizens' difficulties.
In particular, Han Sang-cheol, a former chief of the Yangsan Police Station with extensive experience in local security and current issues, was appointed as the first full-time ombudsman introduced in Yangsan City, and is expected to greatly contribute to more professional and proactive resolution of various grievances.
Mayor Na Dong-yeon expressed his thoughts, saying, “I hope the 3rd term ombudsmen appointed this time will do their best to become problem solvers for grievances that practically protect citizens' rights and interests while enhancing the transparency and integrity of administration.”
