The food alley at Dongdaegu Station Terminal in Dong-gu, Daegu has been reborn with a new name, ‘Dongteo’.

Daegu Dong-gu Office (Mayor Yoon Seok-jun) announced on the 5th that it has completed the development of an integrated brand for the Dongdaegu Station Terminal food alley. This integrated brand development, conducted as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s regional characteristic enhancement project, has been underway for seven months since last May. As a result, the project developed the commercial district naming, BI, characters, and public design.

Food Alley at Dongdaegu Terminal Known as 'Dongteo'

The commercial district naming is ‘Dongteo,’ a shortened form of the original ‘Dongdaegu Station Terminal,’ reflecting the unique characteristics of the food alley. It also symbolizes the location’s status as a representative gateway of Daegu, including Dongdaegu Station and Dongdaegu Terminal, aiming to become a leading commercial district in Daegu filled with diverse food, entertainment, and youthful energy.

Additionally, the development of characters that can convey the brand identity has been completed. These include ‘Foody,’ a passionate gourmet traveler who introduces and enjoys delicious food; ‘Kai,’ a reliable guardian responsible for transportation; and ‘Bari,’ a lucky bluebird who follows Foody in search of tasty food. These characters symbolically express the unique features and aspirations of the Dongteo commercial district.

Along with this, Daegu Dong-gu will also present a commercial district theme song and music video under the name ‘Dongteo.’ The famous artist Gilgu Bonggu participated as singers, and the theme song ‘You and Me Under the Starlight’ will be released on online music streaming platforms.

Going forward, Daegu Dong-gu plans to systematically promote related detailed projects such as creating a representative landmark for the commercial district, developing goods, operating citizen-resident participatory commercial district brand enhancement programs, conducting online customized promotion and marketing, and hosting representative festivals for the commercial district.

Yoon Seok-jun, Mayor of Daegu Dong-gu Office, said, “The commercial district brand is the most effective medium to convey the meaning of the commercial district to the public. We will make more active efforts to utilize brand elements appropriately to create an image as a commercial district that can represent Daegu.”
