This evaluation is a comprehensive annual assessment of waterworks operations conducted by the Ministry of Environment, targeting 168 metropolitan and local water supply institutions nationwide. It aims to establish a competitive water supply system and improve operational management efficiency.

The evaluation targets are divided into six groups based on the population served. Yangju City ranked first overall among 32 local governments in Group Ⅴ (entirely metropolitan water supply).

The evaluation criteria consist of 29 items across three areas: 9 common items (28 points), 18 operational management items (52 points), and a comprehensive evaluation presentation on improving tap water consumption rates and government policy implementation efforts (20 points).

Yangju City achieved excellent results by receiving high scores in areas such as public promotion of tap water, improvement of aging pipelines, and expansion of local water supply to provide high-quality tap water. As a result of this selection, the city will receive a certification plaque and a prize of 10 million won awarded by the Minister of Environment.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City stated, "We will do our best in the operation and management of the waterworks to ensure that citizens can use clean and safe tap water with confidence, and we will make every effort to supply high-quality tap water."
