DH Autoware announced on the 5th that it has signed a contract to supply automated production equipment, including robots, to the production line of Kobico, a company specializing in military vehicles and special-purpose vehicles. The contract is valued at approximately 2.6 billion KRW, and this order is expected to mark the beginning of a significant expansion in the supply of industrial robots and automation equipment.
This supply contract primarily involves the turnkey manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of essential equipment for Kobico's special vehicle body 'CAB' production, such as robot hangers, welding and handling robots, and assembly jigs. Following the supply of automation equipment to the global automotive company Stellantis, DH Autoware has expanded its business scope into the special vehicle sector with this Kobico automation equipment order.
Compared to general vehicles, military vehicles and special-purpose vehicles emphasize durability and tactical utility. Military vehicles are made with durable armored and bulletproof materials. Since they must operate in extreme environments such as deserts, mountains, snow, and mud, a much higher level of technology is required during body production.
Since establishing its automation division through a small-scale merger last year, DH Autoware has been supplying automation equipment across various fields, including the automotive industry. Notably, it has gained recognition for its technology by supplying equipment such as F2X, F2U, and O2X to Stellantis' Morocco plant. The company explained that it succeeded in securing this order due to its strong references and technological capabilities in supplying automation equipment, including robots, to domestic and international companies.
A DH Autoware representative stated, “This order was decided after the client reviewed several candidate companies to produce the special vehicle CAB directly. The fact that DH Autoware possesses design, manufacturing, and installation technologies capable of implementing the high-level processes required for special vehicle production worked positively in our favor.”
He added, “Recently, we have been registered as an official supplier of automation equipment to Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, strengthening cooperation with major automakers. We will continue to develop our technological competitiveness to expand orders to global overseas companies based on this order.”
Kobico, established in 2000, is a company specializing in the production of military vehicles, special-purpose vehicles, and automotive parts. Through continuous technological development and investment, Kobico actively participates in the development of new special vehicles and parts. Last year, it signed an export contract worth approximately 50 billion KRW for 100 wheeled armored vehicles with the Nigerian Police Force, marking its entry into the African market.
