Along with this, SK Innovation decided to focus its capabilities on operational improvement (O/I), merger synergy enhancement, and efficiency through organizational restructuring. SK Innovation E&S will operate as a company-in-company (CIC) system, but to promote integrated and speedy O/I, it consolidated management organization (Staff) functions and gathered portfolio rebalancing, purchasing, and AI/DT functions under the O/I promotion team. Through this, SK Innovation plans to strengthen business competitiveness in the first year after the merger next year while maintaining stable high-profit generation.

SK Innovation and its affiliated business subsidiaries also emphasized selecting core personnel centered on technology and field expertise, as well as young talents in global and green business sectors. Earlier, three SK Innovation affiliates?SK Energy, SK Geocentric, and SK IE Technology?appointed three technology- and field-oriented CEOs in October.

SK On plans to enhance cost competitiveness by streamlining functions by organization and swiftly responding to market demands by transforming the structure and work system of the entire company, including sales and R&D functions, into a customer- and product-centered approach.

Additionally, SK On established an ‘Operations General’ control tower to improve work execution and strengthen collaboration between organizations, organizing planning coordination, management strategy, finance, and purchasing under it. Shin Chang-ho, Head of SK Inc.’s PM Division with diverse business experience within SK Group centered on energy business, was appointed as the executive of Operations General.

The Chief Production Officer (CPO) title was changed to ‘Manufacturing General,’ and Pi Seung-ho, CEO of SK Siltron CSS with semiconductor manufacturing experience and capabilities gained at SK Hynix and SK Siltron, was appointed. The energy storage system (ESS) business was independently organized directly under the CEO to continuously strengthen business capabilities.
