This program was carried out as part of career-specialized education linked with the local community following Yangju High School's selection for the "Autonomous Public High School 2.0 Project" on July 22.

On the day, students toured the exhibits at the Hoam Temple Site Museum after school and had a detailed explanation about the city's ongoing process of registering the site as a World Heritage.

Next, a curator from the "World Heritage Promotion Team," newly established in January last year to register the Yangju Hoam Temple Site as a World Heritage, served as the instructor. This meaningful session helped students understand the UNESCO World Heritage system, which is often encountered in the media but is practically unfamiliar, and also provided professional insight into the role of a "curator" who researches and manages cultural assets.

A Yangju City official said, "We hope this program provided local students with a valuable opportunity to increase their interest in our cultural heritage and to assist them in choosing their career paths through the process of registering the historical value and excellence of the Yangju Hoam Temple Site as a World Heritage." He added, "We will continue to do our best to promote the registration of the Yangju Hoam Temple Site as a World Heritage and to provide cultural education for local citizens."

Meanwhile, the Yangju Hoam Temple Site (National Historic Site) was recognized as an archaeological heritage that proves the prosperity and spread of Buddhist Seon (Zen) culture, which flourished in 14th-century East Asia, and was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2022.

Yangju City plans to accelerate various projects such as academic research and operation of promotional centers to achieve World Heritage registration in the future.
