SK Hynix is solidifying its position as the number one player in the artificial intelligence (AI) memory market, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), by organizing five core related teams and establishing a 'one-team' system.

Along with this, the company has newly established 'Development Headquarters' and 'Production Headquarters,' which consolidate development capabilities across all memory products such as DRAM, NAND, and solutions, and promoted Vice President Ahn Hyun of the N-S Committee to President.

SK Hynix announced on the 5th that it has carried out an organizational restructuring and executive personnel changes for 2025 based on these points.

First, the company introduced a C-level management system that grants responsibility and authority by core functions to enable swift decision-making. Accordingly, the business divisions were organized into five teams: AI Infrastructure (CMO·Chief Marketing Officer), Future Technology Research Institute (CTO·Chief Technology Officer), Development Headquarters (CDO·Chief Development Officer), Production Headquarters (CPO·Chief Production Officer), and Corporate Center.

The Development Headquarters, newly created this time, is an organization dedicated to developing future products such as next-generation AI memory. Vice President Ahn Hyun, who led the N-S Committee, the control tower for the NAND and solutions business, was appointed as President to lead this division. The newly appointed President Ahn has held key positions in the Future Technology Research Institute, management strategy, and solutions development, and was elected as an inside director at this year’s shareholders’ meeting, participating in major company decisions related to technology and strategy.

The company explained that this organizational restructuring is a strategy to have core C-level executives, led by CEO Kwak No-jeong, drive key decisions and respond more agilely to market and technological changes.

The newly established Production Headquarters will oversee mass production of all memory front-end and back-end processes. The plan is to maximize synergy between processes and lead the advancement of production technology from an integrated perspective for fabs (factories) to be built domestically and internationally, including the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster.

Additionally, many experts in diplomacy and trade have been assigned to external cooperation and global affairs organizations to strengthen the company’s capability to respond swiftly to semiconductor policies of major countries and rapidly changing geopolitical issues.

To prepare for future growth that meets customer demands and technology trends with fresh perspectives from young and talented personnel, the company has boldly carried out a generational shift by selecting 33 new executives. About 70% of these were appointed in technical fields such as next-generation semiconductor development, focusing on securing the fundamental competitiveness of the technology company. Following the principle of meritocracy, many new executives were appointed from organizations that achieved outstanding results in strengthening the competitiveness of key products such as HBM and DRAM.

CEO Kwak No-jeong said, "As a result of the efforts of all company members working as one, we have firmly established technological competitiveness in the AI memory field this year, including HBM and enterprise SSDs. Although we have achieved remarkable growth, given the rapidly changing management environment, we will rebalance (restructure) existing businesses and future growth foundations through this organizational restructuring and executive personnel changes to further solidify our AI memory leadership."
