Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Jeon Jin-seon) has recently strengthened its internal control system and is preparing measures to prevent recurrence in relation to the accounting fraud incident.

Immediately after the incident, the county promptly analyzed the issues and on the 5th, conducted public service discipline education focused on restoring transparency and trust for about 80 employees, including team leaders at level 6 or higher and accounting staff.
According to the county on the 5th, the education shared cases, prevention measures, and response plans in areas such as auditing, accounting, and data security, focusing on enhancing public officials' integrity awareness. It emphasized compliance with internal control procedures and fostered responsibility and vigilance against fraudulent acts.
Governor Jeon Jin-seon said, "I deeply apologize for causing concern to the residents due to this incident, and I will concentrate all administrative efforts on strengthening the transparency and accountability of county administration as a result of this matter." He added, "We will continue to prioritize the trust of our residents and consistently inspect and improve the internal system."
Meanwhile, to prevent recurrence of accounting fraud incidents, the county plans to conduct high-intensity audits in vulnerable areas starting in 2025, especially specific audits on tasks with a high likelihood of misconduct, continuous monitoring of budget execution details by institution, expansion of public service discipline inspections, and integrity awareness improvement education, employing various methods to fundamentally block fraud incidents.
Yangpyeong-gun plans to establish a more thorough management and monitoring system based on this incident and will do its best to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
