Gapyeong-gun Public Health Center Receives Gyeonggi Province Governor's Commendation for Gyeonggi-do Smoking Cessation Project

Gapyeong-gun Public Health Center announced on the 5th that it received the Gyeonggi Province Governor's Commendation in the community smoking cessation guidance and enforcement category at the '2024 Gyeonggi-do Smoking Cessation Project Performance Conference' held in Goyang City on the 4th. This commendation is the result of the efforts of smoking cessation instructor Choi Yong-cheol and the consistent activities of the health center.

Gapyeong-gun Public Health Center has taken the lead in creating a smoke-free environment by conducting regular guidance and enforcement in the spring season, when wildfire prevention is crucial, major tourist sites, and designated non-smoking areas within the jurisdiction. Additionally, it has implemented various policies such as inspecting and repairing smoking cessation signs, promoting the expansion of non-smoking zones in educational facilities following the revision of the National Health Promotion Act, and designating non-smoking areas in multi-family housing.

Furthermore, the center has operated non-face-to-face smoking cessation clinics, mobile smoking cessation clinics, a health experience center, and conducted various smoking cessation campaigns targeting local residents to support smoking cessation efforts.

A public health center official stated, “This commendation is the fruit of Gapyeong-gun’s continuous efforts to create a smoke-free environment,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to help smokers attempt to quit and contribute to building a healthy community.”
