Bitcoin Hits All-Time High of $100,000... Trump’s 'Pro-Coin' Moves Bring Positive Momentum

The price of Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, surpassed $100,000 for the first time in history on the 5th. This is interpreted as reflecting expectations that a favorable environment for the cryptocurrency industry will be created as so-called 'pro-coin' figures, led by President-elect Donald Trump, are appointed in large numbers to the cabinet.

According to Bloomberg on the 4th (local time), Bitcoin's price reached $100,000 (approximately 140 million KRW) at around 11:38 a.m. Korean time that day. On the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, as of 12:03 p.m., the price per Bitcoin was trading at $101,988, up about 3.48% compared to 24 hours earlier.

Bitcoin's price has continued to soar since Trump, who declared he would be a "pro-Bitcoin president," won the presidential election. In the four weeks following the November 5 U.S. election, Bitcoin's price rose about 45%. It has jumped about 130% since the beginning of this year. In particular, news that Paul Atkins, who is friendly to cryptocurrencies, was nominated as the next chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acted as a tailwind for the rally.

Mike Novogratz, CEO of cryptocurrency firm Galaxy Digital, said, "We are witnessing a paradigm shift," and evaluated that "after four years of political hardship, Bitcoin and the entire digital asset ecosystem are on the verge of entering mainstream finance." He added, "This momentum is being driven by institutional adoption, advancements in tokenization and payments, and clearer regulatory pathways."

Justin Danet, a cryptocurrency analyst in Hong Kong, emphasized, "Bitcoin surpassing $100,000 is not just a milestone but evidence that the flows of finance, technology, and geopolitics are changing," and said, "A figure that was dismissed as fantasy until recently has become reality."
