Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will hold a special program commemorating author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature at the Arirang Library seminar room on the 10th.
This event will take place on December 10, the actual date the Nobel Prize in Literature is awarded, where Kim Sun-young, editor of the book Boy and CEO of Find Publishing, will meet with local residents to discuss the book.
Author Han Kang has consistently addressed wounded beings through her works, dealing with violence left in Korea such as the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, the Jeju 4.3 Incident, and patriarchy. This perspective aligns with the reasons cited by the Swedish Academy for her selection.
At the Now, Boy Comes event, centered on Han Kang’s work Boy, which was selected as Seongbuk-gu’s book of the year in 2016, the editor and readers will draw out the discourse within the book and connect it to our current lives. More detailed information about the event can be found on the Seongbuk-gu Public Library website.
