Monthly Average Purchase Volume Increased by 72%
Starbucks Korea announced on the 5th that the average purchase amount of users of the subscription service 'Buddy Pass' increased by more than 60% compared to before subscribing.
Launched last October, Buddy Pass is Starbucks' first subscription service, consisting of a 30% discount coupon for handcrafted beverages available daily after 2 PM, a 30% discount on food (1 coupon), free delivery fee for Delivers (1 coupon), and free shipping coupons for the online store (2 coupons). Initially planned as a limited-time service until December, it has been operated as a regular program since this month.
Specifically, users of Buddy Pass showed an average purchase amount and number of purchases in November after subscribing that increased by 61% and 72%, respectively, compared to September before the subscription service launch. This is a significant increase compared to October, indicating that the use of the subscription service is becoming more active.
In fact, when Starbucks converted the benefits received by subscription service users into monetary value, it was found that they enjoy an average monthly benefit of 23,300 KRW. This is about three times the current subscription fee (7,900 KRW). The company expects that with the subscription fee lowered by 2,000 KRW to 7,900 KRW starting this month, users will feel even greater benefit effects.
Baek Ji-woong, Planning Manager at Starbucks Korea, said, "Buddy Pass, which maximizes benefits by analyzing customer needs from various angles, has shown effects of users purchasing more and visiting more frequently than before subscribing," adding, "As the number of customers using Buddy Pass steadily increases, we will strive to provide a more satisfying service experience."
