Newbotec, an eco-friendly water industry specialist company led by CEO Hwang Moon-gi, announced on the 5th that its developed "Eco-friendly Charcoal Deicing Agent and Its Manufacturing Method" has been selected as one of the top 10 outstanding patents for commercialization in the Gangwon region in 2024. This is regarded as a recognition of Newbotec's efforts dedicated to developing environmentally friendly technologies.
Since its establishment in 1990, Newbotec has grown by proving its leading technology in the domestic and international water supply and sewage sectors. In 1997, it achieved innovation by developing the nation's first high-strength PVC double-wall pipe, and in 2002, it enhanced external trust through listing on KOSDAQ. Subsequently, it solidified its position through environmental new technology certifications and various awards.
In this process, Newbotec focused on sustainable environmental protection technologies and concentrated on research and development to overcome the limitations of existing products. In particular, it has strived to solve environmental pollution problems caused by winter deicing operations and has successfully commercialized and supplied the product to the market to date.
The eco-friendly charcoal deicing agent selected this time is a product that innovatively improves the environmental pollution problems caused by conventional calcium chloride and magnesium chloride-based deicing agents by utilizing the natural purification function of charcoal. It features improved deicing performance through melting and thawing persistence, eco-friendliness by reducing ecological toxicity, technology to reduce fine pollutants remaining on road surfaces, and characteristics that resolve hardening phenomena through moisture control.
CEO Hwang Moon-gi stated, "The selection as one of the top 10 outstanding patents for commercialization in the Gangwon region is the result of continuous challenges by Newbotec’s researchers and collaborators," adding, "We hope that the eco-friendly deicing agent will spread nationwide beyond Gangwon-do, contributing to solving environmental pollution problems and protecting ecosystems."
Along with this, Newbotec is also enhancing market trust by showing positive performance recently. As of the third quarter of this year, it recorded an operating profit of 2.6 billion KRW and a net profit of 2.2 billion KRW, achieving growth of 48% and 315%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
A Newbotec official said, "We will continue efforts to develop eco-friendly technologies and preserve the local environment," and added, "We plan to continue innovation for sustainable development."
