Building a Safer City Image by Improving Standards in the Field of Construction Safety

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has taken the lead in creating a safe construction site environment for both residents and workers to prevent safety accidents and raise safety awareness among construction personnel.

On the 27th of last month, the district awarded the ‘Best Safety Management Award’ to the contractors and supervisors of three medium to large-scale construction sites in the area that demonstrated exemplary safety management.

The awarded sites are ▲ Hanwha Life Dream Plus Gwanak New Construction Site at 1604-39 Bongcheon-dong and one other parcel ▲ Residential Complex New Construction Site at 1424-22 Sillim-dong and one other parcel ▲ Officetel New Construction Site at 1643-5 Sillim-dong.

The district conducted safety inspections targeting 13 medium to large-scale construction sites located along main roads, where protection of public pedestrian pathways is necessary and construction periods exceed one year.

Internal experts from the Gwanak-gu Regional Building Safety Center (construction technology engineers, architects) and external experts (architects) visited the same sites more than three times to conduct evaluations.

The district evaluated a total of 19 items including ▲ compliance with safety rules at construction sites ▲ use of safety equipment ▲ environmental inspections, and selected three sites with excellent safety inspection results that contributed to preventing construction site accidents and spreading a safety culture.

Going forward, the district plans to annually award outstanding construction sites to encourage them and provide guidance to sites with deficiencies to foster a safe construction site environment.

The district expects that awarding excellent safety management at construction sites will raise safety awareness and improve safety management levels.
