The Department of Japanese Education at Silla University (President Heo Nam-sik) successfully hosted the "72nd Autumn International Academic Conference."
The "72nd Autumn International Academic Conference," co-hosted by the Department of Japanese Education at Silla University and the Korean Association of Japanese Language and Literature, was held on November 23 at the Silla University College of Education building. The event featured various programs attended by over 150 domestic and international participants, including Japanese language teachers from the Busan Secondary School Japanese Language Education Research Association in Busan and Gyeongnam, academic experts, educators, and current students and alumni of the Department of Japanese Education at Silla University.
The conference began with academic presentations including oral presentations, poster sessions, and online Zoom non-face-to-face presentations, followed by △an opening address by Kim Yong-gak, President of the Korean Association of Japanese Language and Literature △a welcome speech by Heo Nam-sik, President of Silla University △congratulatory remarks by Kurita Shinichi (栗田伸一), Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in Busan, and Sogo (十河), Director of the Japan Foundation Seoul Cultural Center △awards for merit and academic achievement △a keynote lecture by Hitakatsu Naoki (比田勝), Mayor of Tsushima △a lecture and experience session on flower arrangement (Ikebana, いけばな) △a symposium including a presentation by Shin Seon-gyun, teacher at Cheongju Daeseong High School, on "Designing Secondary Japanese Classes According to the 2022 Revised Curriculum," among other diverse programs. These sessions facilitated in-depth discussions on research achievements in Japanese linguistics and literature, Japanese language education, and Japanese culture.
Lee Yoon-ah, Secretary General of the Korean Association of Japanese Language and Literature and professor in the Department of Japanese Education at Silla University, stated, "We hope this conference serves as an important opportunity for all participants to deepen their understanding of Japanese linguistics, literature, and culture, and that it contributes to the advancement of academia by strengthening exchanges and cooperation among researchers."
Lee Jeong-hee, Head of the Department of Japanese Education at Silla University and Vice President of the Korean Association of Japanese Language and Literature, said, "For our students, this conference was a time to learn, feel, and grow in many ways. We will continue to support our students so they can accumulate academic experience."
