Opposition Unites to Propose Impeachment Motion Against Yoon Seok-yeol
The Joguk Innovation Party announced on the 4th that it will cancel the 'Impeachment Cafe Branch No. 8' originally scheduled to be held on the afternoon of the 6th at the Gwangju 5·18 Democracy Square (formerly in front of the Jeonnam Provincial Office).
According to the Joguk Innovation Party Gwangju City Party, the cancellation decision was made after an incident occurred on the night of the 3rd where the Yoon Seok-yeol government declared an unconstitutional and anti-democratic emergency martial law, and martial law troops invaded the National Assembly.
The 'Impeachment Cafe,' which started in Daegu on the 2nd of last month, had been operating for about a month while touring nationwide cities including Mokpo, Seoul, Jeonju, Daejeon, Jeju, and Gimhae.
On the same day, the Joguk Innovation Party canceled the 'Impeachment Cafe Gwangju Branch' event and filed charges against Yoon Seok-yeol and related parties who carried out the illegal martial law situation. They plan to join forces with several parties, including the Democratic Party, to propose a presidential impeachment motion.
Meanwhile, since the general election in April, the Joguk Innovation Party has played the role of an icebreaker by calling for Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment. On the 20th of last month, they held an on-site meeting of the 'Three Years Is Too Long Special Committee' in front of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's statue at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul and disclosed a draft of the impeachment motion.
