Sales Exceed 150,000 Units... 14.7% Increase Compared to Previous Year
Hyundai Motor Group recorded double-digit growth for the second consecutive month by selling over 150,000 units in the United States last month.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 4th that they sold a total of 154,118 units in the U.S. last month, a 14.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Hyundai sold 84,011 units, up 10.4% from the previous month. Kia sold 71,107 units, marking a 20.2% increase during the same period.
The increase is attributed to strong Genesis sales and higher sales of key recreational vehicles (RVs). Genesis sales reached 8,003 units, setting a record for the highest monthly sales ever. In particular, the Genesis GV70 recorded its highest monthly sales ever with 3,235 units, a 39.3% increase compared to the previous year. The G70 also sold 1,548 units, the highest monthly sales so far this year.
Kia's Telluride also showed solid sales performance, achieving a record monthly high with 11,568 units sold, a 31.3% increase compared to the previous year. Hyundai’s Santa Fe also sold 12,376 units, the highest monthly sales so far this year.
Sales of eco-friendly vehicles were also strong. Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) sales alone reached 24,296 units, an 85.8% increase compared to the same period last year, marking the highest monthly sales ever. Hyundai Tucson HEV achieved record monthly sales with 8,126 units, a 190.5% increase compared to the previous year. Santa Fe HEV sales rose 42.0% to 3,862 units, and Carnival HEV sold 2,243 units.
Electric vehicle sales also increased by 62.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 11,233 units, driven by increased sales of the Ioniq 5 and the new EV9 model effect. The Ioniq 5 sold a total of 4,989 units, a 110.3% increase compared to the previous year. EV6 sales rose 46.3% to 1,887 units.
