Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, Excellence Award at Port Logistics Industry Innovation Competition

Held by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries... Presentation on 'Nakpo Pier Renewal' Topic

Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Park Seong-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 4th that it was selected as an outstanding institution at the 2024 Port Logistics Industry Innovation Conference held by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Sejong on the 3rd.


The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has been discovering and awarding innovative cases every year since 2004 to improve the efficiency of the domestic port logistics industry and increase user satisfaction with port facilities. Approximately 70 related personnel from the Ministry’s Port Logistics Industry Division and port authorities (Yeosu Gwangyang, Busan, Incheon, Ulsan) attended this innovation conference.

At the event, Assistant Manager An Se-in of the Authority gave a presentation titled “The Nation’s First Renewal of an Old Wharf Without Logistics Interruption” regarding the reconstruction work of Nakpo Wharf, which began construction this year.


Assistant Manager An was highly evaluated for maintaining cargo handling at the same level as usual during the renewal work at Nakpo Wharf and for having no safety accidents, leading to the selection as an outstanding institution.


President Park Seong-hyun said, “The Authority has made efforts to enable smooth import and export processing and normal operation of factories in the Yeosu Industrial Complex through continuous coexistence and communication with Nakpo Wharf users.” He added, “We will continue to devise customer-centered port operation plans and do our best to expand this as a successful model for the nationwide port renewal projects scheduled in the future.”
