"Impeach Yoon Seok-yeol Immediately"... Over 400 Korea University Professors and Researchers Issue Urgent Statement

Over 400 professors and researchers at Korea University stated that impeachment should be immediately carried out following the incident where President Yoon Seok-yeol declared and then withdrew martial law.

On the afternoon of the 4th, they held an 'Emergency National Declaration Regarding Martial Law' at Korea University Anam Campus in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, saying, "We are outraged to see Yoon Seok-yeol, trapped in a rotten Cold War ideology, driving the National Assembly representing all citizens and the citizens demanding the normalization of the state into anti-state pro-communist forces," and "Immediately suspend and impeach Yoon Seok-yeol, who schemed to destroy the democratic republic of Korea."

They urged, "Immediately arrest the conspirators involved in the rebellion, including Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun and Martial Law Commander Park An-su, and thoroughly investigate and severely punish Kim Geon-hee and her associates for their all-out state corruption."

They expressed anger, saying, "We are furious at Yoon Seok-yeol and his associates who made young sons honorably serving on the front lines of national security point guns at the people," and added, "As intellectuals who failed to change the situation to prevent such an incident, we feel ashamed and deeply distressed."

They stated, "The crisis brought by a historical turning point carries both risks and opportunities," and said, "It was a long night, but a clear morning has come. We strongly hope and urge that through thorough investigation and severe punishment, the democratic republic of Korea will create a turning point to become a nation leading world peace and prosperity."
