KAIST President Kwang-Hyung Lee: "Let's Focus on Studies and Research"

Message Delivered to Students Regarding Martial Law Confusion
Emergency Academic Affairs Director Meeting Canceled

KAIST President Kwang-Hyung Lee: "Let's Focus on Studies and Research" Kwang-Hyung Lee, President of KAIST

Lee Kwang-hyung, President of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), emphasized that students should focus on their studies and research.

According to KAIST on the 4th, President Lee urged, "I hope students will dedicate themselves to their studies and research without any setbacks."

President Lee's remarks are interpreted as a call for students and faculty to contribute to the advancement of Korean science and technology without being swayed by political situations. Other presidents of science and technology institutes such as UNIST, GIST, and DGIST have not issued any special messages.

KAIST had planned an emergency academic affairs meeting led by President Lee on the morning of the day following the declaration of martial law, but the meeting was canceled after the martial law was lifted. The school added that it is currently operating normally.

The KAIST Graduate Student Council also stated, "We are monitoring the current situation, communicating closely with the school, and will strive to ensure that the daily lives of our fellow students remain peaceful."

Earlier this year, at the graduation ceremony attended by President Yoon Suk-yeol, a controversy arose when a graduate who protested against the reduction of research and development budgets was forcibly removed with their mouth covered by security guards from the Presidential Security Service.
