BigTech Develops km-Class Precision Search LiDAR, Core Technology for Anti-Drone Systems

Defense company VICTEK is developing a km-class precision search LiDAR for maritime unmanned systems. Once developed, this technology will support the safe navigation of future unmanned autonomous vessels.

BigTech Develops km-Class Precision Search LiDAR, Core Technology for Anti-Drone Systems

According to VICTEK on the 4th, the company signed an agreement to receive a total of 5.7 billion KRW over three years from the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute to carry out the project. VICTEK has been recognized for securing core element technologies through technological investment and prototype development for long-range LiDAR. Through this agreement, they plan to develop a precision search LiDAR for maritime unmanned systems capable of responding to various threats occurring at sea.

In particular, they will also pursue localization of technologies such as laser high-power amplifiers, high-sensitivity multi-detectors, and transceiver optical systems, which currently rely on overseas technology. The technology secured through this project will support the safe navigation of future unmanned autonomous vessels in a global environment.

Moreover, by mounting it on various platforms including ground, sea, and air, it can be applied to a km-class anti-drone system that precisely searches for small targets with low radar cross-section (RCS), an anti-bird strike search system that precisely detects flocks of birds around runways to prevent aircraft accidents caused by birds, and a scientific forward surveillance, perimeter defense, and close-range precision strike system by integrating km-class precision search LiDAR with artificial intelligence (AI).

A VICTEK official stated, "We aim to successfully carry out the project to discover new defense business opportunities and contribute to the advancement of domestic defense technology, and we expect that it can be applied to various civilian sectors in the future."
