Busan Office of Education Raises Awareness on the Need for Drug Prevention Through Musical

Over 900 High School Seniors Watch Musical 'Platform'... Preventing Harmful Drug Use Through Empathy

High school seniors who have taken the CSAT will learn about the dangers of harmful substances such as narcotics through a musical.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 4th that it will provide an opportunity to watch the narcotics prevention musical "Platform" to about 900 people, including 3rd-year high school students and teachers, twice on the morning and afternoon of the 5th at the Busan Education Research and Information Center auditorium.

This musical is intended to effectively convey the dangers of narcotics and the importance of prevention to 3rd-year high school students who are in the period of self-development after the CSAT.

The musical delicately depicts the overall life of a drug addict who has been admitted to a rehabilitation center, including family background, encounters, and wounds, as well as the background of how they came into contact with drugs and the reasons for addiction.

The Busan Office of Education expects that by informing students about the dangers of narcotics through art rather than simple rote education, students will naturally empathize with the need for prevention.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “The city education office is making every effort to create a safe educational environment free from harmful substances such as narcotics. We will continue to take the lead in helping students develop the ability to protect themselves from harmful substances and grow into healthy members of society.”
