The event was organized to encourage the efforts of disabled athletes who have dedicated themselves to the development of disabled sports in Gwangju City and to promote harmony. About 200 people attended the year-end party, including Mayor Bang Se-hwan, officials from the Gwangju City Disabled Sports Association's sports organizations, and athletes.

At the event, awards were presented to 19 sports contributors who worked for the development of disabled sports and to three outstanding organizations. Gu Pyeong-hoe, head of the NH Nonghyup Bank Gwangju Branch, and Lim Chae-won, president of the Gwangju Munmaek Rotary Club, each donated 10 million won and 5 million won respectively as development funds for disabled sports.

At the event, Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “I would like to thank the executives and athletes of the Disabled Sports Association who dedicated themselves to the development of disabled sports in Gwangju City throughout 2024, as well as the teams and coaches who achieved excellent results in various sports competitions. With the completion of the Bandabi Disabled Sports Center in 2025, we will take the lead in creating an environment where people with disabilities can enjoy sports activities more comfortably.”
