Yeosu City Announces 'Top 10 Achievements' That Shined This Year

Selected Through Survey of 2,000 Citizens and Public Officials
Top-Ranked Projects with High Impact Including Special Discounts on Gift Certificates

On the 4th, Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced the ‘Top 10 Administrative Achievements that Brightened Yeosu in 2024,’ selected based on comprehensive citizen feedback focusing on contributions to city administration and public impact.


The top-ranked projects with high citizen satisfaction included ▲15% special discount on the card-type Yeosu Love Gift Certificates ▲Creation of public parking lots in densely populated residential and commercial areas ▲Operation of high-speed passenger ships on the Yeosu~Geomeon route.

Following these were ▲Full-scale promotion of the ‘Annex Building Expansion of the Main Government Office’ to improve public services ▲Selection for the ‘Night Tourism Specialized City Development Project’ contest ▲Establishment of a barefoot trail at Mipyeong Bonghwasan Forest Bathing Area laying the foundation for a healthy city ▲Full-scale launch of ‘Yeosu Bay Renaissance’ for Yeosu’s next 100 years in partnership with citizens ▲Overcoming local financial crisis by securing 466.3 billion KRW in government budget for 2025 ▲Support project for Yeosu-style youth rental housing embracing young people ▲Opening of the nation’s first marine sector ‘National Yeosu Marine Meteorological Science Museum,’ among others.


Earlier, the city conducted a written review of 76 policies submitted by departments and selected 20 projects. Then, from the 22nd to the 29th of last month, an online survey was conducted targeting citizens and public officials. A total of 2,002 people participated through the Citizen Communication Plaza website, and to better reflect citizen opinions, only 50% of the votes from public officials were counted in the final tally.


Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong stated, "In the upcoming year 2025, we will make greater efforts to operate city administration with a sense of urgency to realize the vision of Yeosu as a key port city on the South Sea and to achieve citizen happiness."
