Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has prepared a 2025 initial budget of 693.2 billion KRW, an increase of 300 million KRW (0.04%) compared to the previous year, and submitted it to the Goseong County Council.

Goseong-gun Allocates 693.2 Billion Won for Next Year's Budget... Largest Ever Secured Goseong County Office.

By account type, the general account increased by 4.4 billion KRW (0.71%) from this year's 615 billion KRW to 619.4 billion KRW, while the special account decreased by 4.1 billion KRW (5.28%) from this year's 77.9 billion KRW to 73.8 billion KRW.

Goseong-gun stated, “When preparing the 2025 budget, we minimized increases in recurring expenses and reexamined whether to proceed with new projects or postponed budget allocations, boldly cutting unnecessary expenses and only requested budgets for essential expenses benefiting many residents.”

Despite limited budget preparation conditions due to difficult financial circumstances such as a prolonged economic downturn and decreased tax revenue, efforts to secure dependent resources led to a significant increase in national and provincial subsidies, resulting in an overall budget increase compared to the previous year.

Next year’s budget focuses on maintaining continuity of key projects under the 8th elected administration while prioritizing essential welfare budgets for vulnerable groups and disaster prevention budgets. Examining expenditures by sector, the budget is allocated as follows: △ Social Welfare 159.5 billion KRW △ Agriculture, Forestry, Marine, and Fisheries 115 billion KRW △ Environment 83.1 billion KRW △ Transportation, Logistics, and Regional Development 66.6 billion KRW △ Culture and Tourism 56.1 billion KRW △ Industrial Economy 14.2 billion KRW △ Public Order and Safety 13.8 billion KRW, among others.

County Governor Lee Sang-geun said, “The financial situation is difficult due to the prolonged economic downturn and reduced local allocation tax caused by national tax shortfalls. However, ongoing projects will be completed steadily, and new projects have been thoroughly analyzed for effectiveness to determine whether they are truly necessary before budgeting.” He added, “We will make 2025 a year to lay the foundation for a century-long plan for Goseong’s future and strategically promote key projects.”

Meanwhile, the 2025 budget submitted by Goseong-gun will be reviewed and approved during the 2nd regular session of the 298th Goseong County Council and finalized on the 17th.
