Kookmin University (President Seung-ryeol Jeong) announced that it held the "4th Kookmin University President's Cup National University Student Future Air Mobility (AAM) Digital Design Competition" at the Kookmin University Creative Engineering Hall on November 29.
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) refers to transportation means that utilize air routes to solve traffic and transportation problems within urban areas or between cities. AAM involves electric propulsion vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft capable of unmanned autonomous navigation, incorporating lightweight materials, batteries, flight control technology, as well as advanced technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI).
Hosted by the Kookmin University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and supported by the Kookmin University LINC 3.0 Project Group, the competition featured 27 teams from 18 universities nationwide, with 17 teams advancing to the finals to compete in AAM digital design skills. As a result of the judging, the KOOBIL team won the Grand Prize, two teams (Yonsei Drone, Jayubihaeng Team) won Gold, two teams (V.MO, Dadalos Team) won Silver, two teams (Bisangyeop, BedRock Team) won Bronze, and three teams (Gwanjjak Sonyeondan, Dooseom Place, Busan Galmaegi Team) received Encouragement Awards. Each winning team was awarded a certificate and prizes in the name of the Kookmin University President.
Professor Yong-hyun Yoon, Specially Appointed Professor of the Department of Future Mobility at Kookmin University, who has provided technical guidance and reference materials related to air mobility to participating students, said, “Through this annual competition, we have confirmed that university students nationwide are improving their AAM design skills using digital twins every year. I hope this competition becomes a good model for demand-tailored workforce development in preparation for future industries and serves as an opportunity to raise social interest in future air mobility.”
