Democratic Party Lawmakers Speak with One Voice Through SNS
Democratic Party lawmakers including Min Hyung-bae (Gwangju Gwangsan-eul) and Lee Eon-ju (Gyeonggi Yongin-si Jeong) raised a unified voice of criticism against the president's declaration of martial law through SNS (social networking services).
On the 4th, Min said on SNS, "From now on, it's impeachment," and urged, "Please gather at the stairs in front of the National Assembly main building at noon today."
Min stated that the National Assembly acted swiftly to block the "Yoon Seok-yeol loyalist coup," explaining, "Democratic Party lawmakers quickly climbed over the National Assembly fence and gathered in the plenary hall, thereby lifting the emergency martial law and narrowly preventing it."
Reiterating the impeachment of President Yoon, Min said, "The impeachment motion will be filed soon." He emphasized, "From swift impeachment to preventing recurrence and post-incident handling, the Democratic Party will act in a coordinated manner."
Lee Eon-ju said on SNS, "This incident revealed that President Yoon lacks the reasoning and judgment necessary for normal state administration," and questioned, "How can he make critical decisions on the country's diplomatic, security, and economic affairs in this condition?" She stressed, "A national consensus has formed that the country can no longer be entrusted to President Yoon."
Yoo Dong-su, a Democratic Party lawmaker (Incheon Gyeyang-gu Gap), also wrote on SNS, "The Democratic Party has blocked President Yoon's unconstitutional declaration of emergency martial law," adding, "President Yoon must take responsibility."
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party held an emergency party meeting at the National Assembly on the same day and issued a resolution calling for President Yoon's immediate resignation.
Democratic Party lawmakers emphasized, "President Yoon's declaration of emergency martial law is a clear violation of the Constitution," and stated, "None of the necessary conditions for the declaration of martial law were met." In the resolution, the Democratic Party claimed, "The declaration of martial law itself is fundamentally invalid and a serious constitutional violation," and added, "This is a grave act of rebellion and a perfect ground for impeachment." They declared, "We will not tolerate President Yoon's constitutional destruction crimes that trample on the Constitution and democracy. President Yoon must immediately resign voluntarily."
