KODEX US AI Power Core Infrastructure Net Assets Surpass 200 Billion Won

Samsung Asset Management announced on the 4th that the ‘KODEX US AI Power Core Infrastructure’ ETF, which was the first US AI power ETF listed domestically in July, recorded net assets of 210.6 billion KRW. This is attributed to the fact that the power infrastructure industry in the US is steadily emerging as a key element in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

With the emergence of OpenAI’s ‘Chat-GPT,’ hardware such as AI semiconductors led by Nvidia attracted attention in the first half of this year, sparking an AI investment boom. Although high growth is expected in the software sector recently, the perception that investment in power infrastructure, which will realize generative AI, is essential for the full bloom of the generative AI era is expanding further.

When users search with Chat-GPT, it consumes more than 10 times the power compared to traditional general searches. It has become widely recognized that AI servers supporting this also require about 5 to 10 times more power than conventional servers, making sufficient expansion of power infrastructure essential. In addition to Chat-GPT, applications utilizing AI such as autonomous driving, photo and video generation are rapidly emerging, and it is forecasted that user demand will increase even more sharply.

The KODEX US AI Power Core Infrastructure ETF recorded a return of 30.8% since its listing. During the same period, it outperformed the S&P 500 by approximately 22.2 percentage points (P) and the Nasdaq by about 24.9 P.

Kim Cheonheung, manager at Samsung Asset Management, introduced, "The average market capitalization of the US companies invested in by KODEX US AI Power Core Infrastructure is about 100 trillion KRW," adding, "The portfolio is composed mainly of large-cap US stocks." He continued, "Since it invests in representative companies across various fields related to power infrastructure, such as server cooling essential for AI power response, transmission and distribution networks, and nuclear power generation facilities, it can fully benefit from the expansion of power infrastructure."
