Total Investment of 7.4 Billion KRW by 2026

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is promoting an urban regeneration project linked with redevelopment in the Darae Village area of Eungam 3-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. The residential area will supply a total of 3,000 housing units through redevelopment, and a total of 7.4 billion KRW will be invested to improve facilities in the traditional market.

On the 4th, Seoul announced that it held the 5th Urban Regeneration Committee meeting on the 28th of last month and approved the original plan for the urban regeneration activation plan for the 754 area of Eungam 3-dong.

The target area will appropriately link redevelopment and urban regeneration projects in line with the second-generation urban regeneration policy called "balanced development of declining areas." The residential area is expected to be transformed into a large complex with a total of 3,000 housing units through redevelopment. In this area, 91.2% of the buildings are over 20 years old, and the residential environment is poor due to steep slopes and narrow roads.

Additionally, although there is a large floating population, the Daerim Market, which has outdated facilities and poor pedestrian environment, will be revitalized by linking it with the urban regeneration project to activate the alleyway commercial district. In Daerim Alley Market, projects to expand fire safety facilities and support design improvements such as artterior for small business owners will be promoted. Daerim Market will have a rooftop cafeteria created, main signboards replaced, ventilation facilities installed, and underground embedded fire hydrants installed. Furthermore, a public parking lot will be built, and small parks, welfare facilities, and childcare facilities will be secured and provided to local residents.

With the confirmation of this plan, the city will invest a total of 7.4 billion KRW by 2026 to promote pilot projects in three different sectors.

In addition, Seoul passed the urban regeneration activation project for Garibong and the amendment plan for the urban regeneration activation plan in Suyu 1-dong.

The Garibong urban regeneration activation area, where the pilot project was completed in 2021, changed the plan to demolish the village yard parking complex facility and build a replacement parking lot. Suyu 1-dong includes the creation of a small parking lot using the remaining budget of the urban regeneration project to alleviate parking difficulties in the area.

Choi Jae-jun, head of the Residential Environment Improvement Division of Seoul, said, "We will continue to support the prompt promotion of the redevelopment-linked urban regeneration activation project so that it can be transformed into a groundbreaking space where anyone wants to visit and stay."
