Sang-il Lee, Mayor of Yongin, "Let Public Officials Calmly Take Care of People's Livelihood"

Early Morning of the 4th, Emergency Decree Lifted and Executive Meeting Convened
'Hangang Sarang Forum' Scheduled for Morning Canceled

Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, held an emergency executive meeting in the early morning of the 4th immediately after President Yoon Seok-yeol's announcement of the lifting of martial law to discuss measures to calm public sentiment.


The mayor said, "It is fortunate that martial law has been lifted," and urged, "All city officials should stay in their positions, fulfill their responsibilities, and help citizens feel secure and engage in their livelihoods." He added, "Given the recent heavy snowfall that caused significant damage in Yongin, public officials should calmly take care of people's lives and carry out necessary tasks."

The mayor stated, "Although martial law has been lifted, I believe that the citizens of Yongin and the public still have not shaken off their anxiety," and requested, "The Presidential Office, the Cabinet, the National Assembly, and both ruling and opposition parties should work to normalize the political situation so that all citizens can live normal lives."


Earlier, upon hearing the news of President Yoon's declaration of martial law the previous night, the mayor canceled the '2nd Hangang Love Forum' scheduled to be held at Yongin City Hall on the morning of the 4th. The mayor explained the political situation to Bang Se-hwan, Mayor of Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province; Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon; Jeon Jin-seon, County Governor of Yangpyeong; and Seo Tae-won, County Governor of Gapyeong, who were scheduled to attend the forum, and suggested holding the forum at an appropriate time to discuss the issue of easing regulations in the metropolitan area.
