April 4th, 3:30 PM at City Hall, Launch Ceremony and MOU Signing... Attendance by Deputy Mayor, Busan RISE Center Director, Busan Economic Promotion Agency Director, and Other Innovation Institution Heads
Mayor Park Hyung-jun: "Public institutions with expertise will cooperate to proactively establish a Busan-specific specialized RISE model"
On the 4th at 3:30 PM, Busan City, together with the Busan RISE Center, launched the 'Busan Public RISE Alliance' at the City Hall International Protocol Room, marking the official start of the new 'Busan-type RISE' by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with regional innovation institutions.
At the signing ceremony, eight heads of regional innovation institutions, including the city's Deputy Mayor, Lee Jun-hyun, Director of the Busan RISE Center, the President of the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and the President of the Busan Science and Technology Higher Education Promotion Agency, attended to inaugurate the alliance and sign the MOU.
The 'Busan Public RISE Alliance (BPRA)' is an integrated support system centered on the city and the Busan RISE Center, where eight related institutions in Busan cooperate to organically connect local universities, industries, and communities.
Along with the city and the Busan RISE Center, the eight regional innovation institutions involved are ▲ Busan Economic Promotion Agency ▲ Busan Science and Technology Higher Education Promotion Agency ▲ Busan Global City Foundation ▲ Busan Cultural Foundation ▲ Busan Women, Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Agency ▲ Busan Institute ▲ Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency ▲ Busan Technopark.
This agreement was established to enable regional innovation institutions to mutually cooperate in project execution, performance management, and the establishment and operation of feedback systems for promoting 'Busan RISE,' aiming for early settlement of the RISE project within the region and pre-establishing a groundbreaking communication channel between the city and universities.
Going forward, the signatory institutions will actively collaborate on areas where their expertise can be linked with local universities and share their human and material resources. They will also work together to foster local talent and create a virtuous cycle ecosystem of 'Busan-type RISE' that extends from employment and entrepreneurship to regional settlement by utilizing their networks.
On the 16th, the 'Busan Metropolitan City University and Local Talent Development Support Council' (which is planned to be expanded and reorganized into the Busan RISE Committee) will review the 'Busan City RISE Basic Plan,' and the city plans to submit the 'Busan City RISE Basic Plan' to the Ministry of Education by the end of this month.
Subsequently, university-specific RISE plans reflecting the specialization strategies of local universities linked to the RISE Basic Plan will be solicited and selected, and the 'Busan-type RISE' will officially commence from March next year.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "'Busan Public RISE Alliance (BPRA)' is an innovative platform that goes beyond the limitations of existing individual projects, enabling universities, industries, and communities to communicate and cooperate as one." He added, "Through this recent agreement ahead of the start of 'Busan-type RISE (RISE),' specialized public institutions aim to create a cooperation network among government, industry, academia, and research. Through this, we will lead the establishment of a Busan-specific RISE model."
