This talk concert was planned by the Goyang Youth Participation Committee under the Ilsanseo-gu Youth Center, affiliated with the Goyang City Youth Foundation. The Goyang Youth Participation Committee is a participatory organization established to enable youth to actively participate in the process of creating and implementing youth policies. They invited the mayor to hold a policy meeting during the process of proposing policy tasks.

Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, attended the event this year as well as last year, listening attentively to the voices of youth.

This year, the event was divided into two parts. Before meeting the mayor, in the first part, 10 policies proposed by the youth and the Youth Participation Committee were shared, and youth opinions on these policies were collected. Then, in the second part, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan and the youth reviewed the policies together and exchanged opinions.

The policies proposed by the youth this time include △ installation of bus stop design trash bins △ installation of fixed rainwater removers at subway stations △ designation of restricted parking zones for electric kickboards △ support projects for youth mental health prevention education, among others.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “It is very promising for the future of Goyang City that there are youth who take an interest in city administration and actively participate despite being busy with school life. We will make efforts to ensure that the youth policies proposed today are reflected in city administration.”

He also stated, “We will do our best to make Goyang a self-sufficient city where youth who grew up here do not have to leave for other regions due to lack of desired jobs, with workplaces and residences close by, and a city where youth are happy.”

Hwang So-hyun, Chairperson of the Goyang Youth Participation Committee, said, “There was a lot of discussion to ensure the effectiveness of policies from the formation of the Youth Participation Committee to the emergence of 10 youth policy proposals. I am glad to have had the opportunity to fully explain them to the mayor at the talk concert, and I hope they will be well reflected in Goyang’s youth policies.”
