Relentless Efforts to Ensure No Resident Is Overlooked in Damage Recovery
10,272 Households Power Outage... 43 Households Still Awaiting Restoration
The snow that fell over two days from the 27th to the 28th of last month left too many scars in Yangpyeong-gun as well. It was a snow bomb that fell for the first time in 122 years. The snow cloud, which absorbed a lot of moisture while passing over the West Sea, struck the central region and caused great damage.

Yangpyeong-gun, which has the most mountainous areas in Gyeonggi Province, suffered massive damage to residents due to heavy wet snow. Trees weighed down by the heavy wet snow could not support their weight and broke power lines, and weak vinyl greenhouses and livestock barn roofs collapsed as they were.
From the 27th, the number of households experiencing power outages confirmed in Yangpyeong-gun reached 10,272. Even after five days, 43 households still have not had their power restored, and sporadic fallen trees continue to cause power outages in mountain villages.
Although the heavy snowfall ended on the 28th, Yangpyeong-gun is maintaining emergency response level 1 to this day, and continues to operate the disaster situation room to minimize inconvenience to residents who have not been able to report to KEPCO (Yangpyeong branch). In addition, to ensure rapid water supply to the disaster area, about 9,000 bottles of ‘Mulmalgeun Yangpyeongsu (Water)’ were urgently supplied to six villages in urgent need of support, and every effort is being made to prevent any disruption in drinking water supply.
In this situation, County Governor Jeon Jin-seon has been visiting the sites affected by power outages day and night since the 28th, monitoring the damage status in real time, and personally directing recovery efforts on site to accelerate swift restoration. Above all, to communicate in real time with the heads of the towns and townships in the affected areas, a group chat room was created, and equipment and manpower were supported for snow damage tree removal and snow removal work in the recovery areas to ensure rapid restoration.
Under Governor Jeon Jin-seon’s special directive, the equipment units supported by the towns and townships for power restoration amounted to 150 million KRW, and support such as lodging was provided to 210 households whose temporary restoration was delayed, totaling 300 million KRW, ensuring thorough support for affected households.
The governor said, “From now on, it is time for everyone to join forces and work hard to investigate residents’ damage and provide active support,” adding, “We will concentrate all administrative power to do our best so that residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”
