Launch of Efforts to Host the 2026 World Korean Business Conference in Incheon
Incheon City announced on the 3rd that it will promote various events inviting overseas Koreans next year to mark the '2025-2026 Overseas Koreans Incheon Exchange and Visit Year.'
First, the city plans to operate an Overseas Koreans Visit Week in line with the World Korean Day on October 5 next year. During this period, a large-scale welcome concert will be held where overseas Koreans and Incheon citizens can come together, and welcome booths providing multilingual tourist information as well as tourist site and transportation details will be operated. Overseas Koreans using Songdo Convensia, Harbor Park Hotel, and Incheon City Tour buses will also receive discount benefits.
The city has designated overseas Koreans with ties to Incheon as 'Incheon-in Overseas Koreans' and has currently compiled data on 141 individuals. They will receive an online newsletter and be invited to Incheon in October next year for a homecoming day that offers opportunities for tours. The city plans to strengthen the network among overseas Koreans connected to Incheon to support future international events, investment attraction, and diplomatic activities.
Additionally, the city will cooperate with the Overseas Koreans Office under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support a next-generation overseas Koreans' homeland invitation training program in July and August next year. About 1,200 overseas Korean youths will experience Incheon’s development, history, and culture to foster understanding and pride in Incheon.

The city will also strengthen business cooperation to ensure that these exchange and cooperation opportunities with overseas Koreans lead to regional economic revitalization.
The 29th World Korean Economic Forum, hosted by the World-OKTA, the largest economic organization of overseas Koreans, will be held in October next year in Songdo International City to support domestic companies’ overseas expansion and enhance Incheon’s brand value to revitalize the tourism industry.
Furthermore, efforts will begin to attract the '24th World Korean Business Convention 2026,' hosted by the Overseas Koreans Office, to Incheon. By focusing on holding the 29th World Korean Economic Forum and the 24th World Korean Business Convention during the Exchange and Visit Year, Incheon will be imprinted as a hub city for overseas Koreans in the overseas Korean community, and continuous business activation among Incheon’s small and medium enterprises, overseas Koreans, and foreign companies will be pursued.
An official from Incheon City stated, "To become a city friendly to overseas Koreans, we have promoted various exchange and cooperation activities, including five business agreements with overseas Korean-related organizations this year," adding, "We will successfully carry out the Overseas Koreans Incheon Exchange and Visit Year and lay the foundation for Incheon City to leap forward as a 'Global Top Ten City.'"
