Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province, and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation Open Dongducheon Child Care Center

Mayor Park Hyeongdeok "Expecting a Leading Role in Elementary After-School Care"

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 3rd that it held the opening ceremony of the Dongducheon Child Care Center, which was jointly established by Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province, and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation on the 2nd. The opening ceremony was attended by Park Hyung-deok, Mayor of Dongducheon, Kim Seung-ho, Chairman of the Dongducheon City Council, Baek Hyun-jong, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Province Urban Environment Committee, as well as city and provincial council members and about 100 citizens.

The Dongducheon Child Care Center was selected through the 2021 'Gyeonggi Province Vacant House Utilization Pilot Project' and began construction with a groundbreaking ceremony in August 2023, completing the usage approval on October 25.

The child care center, built through cooperation among the three organizations?Gyeonggi Province, Dongducheon City, and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation?is located in the original downtown area of Dongducheon City. It is planned to operate as the second Dahamkke Care Center, where parents with elementary school children can safely leave their kids and engage in their livelihoods. The city expects this to play a significant role in eliminating blind spots in elementary school child care.

Park Hyung-deok, Mayor of Dongducheon City, stated, “I am very pleased to have completed this meaningful project together with Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation. Dongducheon City plans to provide the best educational environment to create a setting where all children can freely pursue their dreams and fully demonstrate their talents, and we will actively support them to become the leaders of Dongducheon City’s future.”
