Waplet, a senior care specialized subsidiary of NHN, announced on the 3rd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, to effectively carry out the 'Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Support Pilot Project.'
Through this agreement, a mobile application-based care platform will be introduced for the first time among the municipalities conducting the Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Support Pilot Project.
The Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Support Project is a national initiative led by the Ministry of Health and Welfare that provides medical, care, and nursing services in the living spaces of the elderly. After a pilot operation until next year, it is scheduled to become mandatory nationwide starting in 2026. Jincheon-gun was the only municipality in Chungbuk selected as a budget-supported operator for this project.
According to the agreement, Waplet will supply its self-developed municipality-specialized elderly care platform, 'Waplet AI Senior Safety Care,' to Jincheon-gun. Jincheon-gun and the Jincheon-gun branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association plan to use Waplet AI Senior Safety Care to provide high-quality care services to the elderly and perform on-site tasks such as non-face-to-face welfare checks and health monitoring.
The mobile app-based Waplet AI Senior Safety Care offers smart care services in four areas: ▲'Daily and Welfare Care,' which checks the daily welfare of the elderly through AI-based notifications; ▲'Safety Care,' which provides SOS emergency alerts based on mobile phone movement detection; ▲'Health Care,' which offers professional health consultations with experts in 17 medical fields via phone connection, as well as medication reminders, cardiovascular health checks, and cognitive function tests; and ▲'Leisure Care,' which includes games, fortune-telling, and schedule management.
In particular, municipal care personnel can monitor the welfare and safety of the elderly in real-time through the administrator page. Additionally, individual health management reports are provided separately, enabling more convenient and efficient care services.
Jincheon-gun and Waplet plan to conduct the pilot project for about six months starting January next year, and from the second half of next year, they will expand the number of beneficiaries and the scale of the project through a full-scale transition.
Song Gi-seop, the mayor of Jincheon-gun, stated, "Through continuous care services using the mobile platform, we will carefully monitor the safety and health of the elderly in the region and do our best to help them live longer and healthier lives within the community."
A Waplet representative said, "Waplet AI Senior Safety Care, which enables automatic welfare checks and health management using only a mobile phone, is recognized for its effectiveness in municipal care settings. With the nationwide mandatory introduction of the Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Support Project approaching, we expect Jincheon-gun’s adoption of Waplet AI Senior Safety Care to serve as a meaningful benchmarking case for other municipalities."
