Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has nominated Warren Stevens, CEO of a financial services company and a major donor, as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
On the same day, Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social, "Warren has always dreamed of serving the United States full-time," and added, "I am very pleased that Warren now has the opportunity to represent the United States as the top diplomat in our most cherished and beloved ally, the United Kingdom."
He also described Stevens as "one of the most successful businessmen in this country," noting, "He has served as chairman, board chairman, and CEO of Stevens for 38 years, establishing an excellent financial services company and selflessly giving back to the community as a philanthropist."
The nominee, Stevens, is the CEO of the Arkansas-based financial services firm 'Stevens.' During the 2016 presidential election, he funded campaigns opposing Trump’s nomination as the Republican candidate. However, he later became a 'pro-Trump' supporter, donating over $3 million to Trump-supporting super PACs during the 2020 election. It is also reported that he contributed more than $1 million to Trump super PACs in the recent election.
