Awards Ceremony for Meritorious Contributors at Health and Medical Workers' Day Celebration
Professor Im Yong from the Department of Clinical Pathology at Dong-Eui University received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for his contributions to improving public health and welfare and advancing the biohealth industry sector.
Professor Im was awarded at the ‘7th Health and Medical Technicians Day Ceremony’ held on November 19 at the Korean Optometrists Association Seoul Education Center, organized and hosted by the Korea Federation of Medical Technicians Associations.
Professor Im was recognized for his contributions including the revision of enforcement regulations related to the placement of specialized personnel such as clinical pathologists and radiologists for prompt and accurate testing at regional emergency medical centers, the safe marathon campaign created together with clinical pathologists, and policy proposals to secure competitiveness in domestic in vitro diagnostic medical devices.
Professor Im stated, “The importance of diagnostic testing professionals has become more prominent through the experience of COVID-19,” adding, “I will strive to raise awareness of clinical pathologists, diagnostic testing professionals who promote universal health assurance for humanity, respond to health crises, and realize a healthier humanity.”
Professor Im Yong has served as the Chair of the Standards Development Committee at the Korea Clinical Pathology Education and Evaluation Institute, a Clinical Expert Coordination Committee member at the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, and a specialist member for in vitro diagnostic medical devices at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. He currently serves as the President of the Medical Diagnostic Testing Society and a Policy Development Research Committee member of the Korean Association of Clinical Pathologists.
