Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 2nd that it will hold the "2024 Regional Emergency Medical Development Symposium" on the 5th at Hotel Sirius to share domestic emergency medical policies and explore ways to develop and cooperate in emergency medical services within the region.

Hosted by Jeju Province and organized by the Jeju Emergency Medical Support Group (Director Kim Won), the symposium will be attended by about 100 people from emergency medical institutions in the province, the National Medical Center, fire departments, city and provincial emergency medical support groups, and related academic societies and organizations.

The Jeju Emergency Medical Support Group, launched in February to support the development and implementation of emergency medical policies centered on the Jeju region, prepared this symposium to share its achievements and establish its role within the region.

The symposium will proceed with keynote presentations diagnosing the emergency medical system and policies and suggesting directions, followed by a panel discussion involving emergency medical experts and healthcare professionals.

Through the keynote presentations, Jeju Province and Chungbuk Province will share "Achievements and Cases of Emergency Medical Support Groups." Additionally, related academic societies such as the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters and the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine will present on "Operational Status, Roles, and Tasks of Each Institution," while the Central Emergency Medical Center of the National Medical Center will propose "Domestic Emergency Medical Policies and Directions."

The panel discussion, chaired by Kim Sung-jung, head of the Central Emergency Medical Center at the National Medical Center, will focus on "Regional Emergency Medical Issues, Linkage, and Cooperation Measures," with participation from emergency medical experts, healthcare professionals, and related organizations to seek development plans.

Kang Dong-won, Director of the Safety and Health Office, said, "Through this symposium, we hope to present the direction of the regional emergency medical system amid the changing medical environment, including medical crises," and added, "We hope that the medical capabilities in the Jeju region will be further strengthened through the establishment of a cooperative system."
