Yangsan City Out-of-School Youth Support Center
April 4, Yangsan Youth Hall, Graduation Ceremony
The Yangsan City Out-of-School Youth Support Center (Kkumdeulim) in Gyeongnam will hold the 7th very special Kkumdeulim graduation ceremony for 2024, titled ‘Gathering Hearts Toward Dreams,’ on the 4th at the multipurpose room on the 3rd floor of the Yangsan Youth Hall.
This graduation ceremony, prepared and led by out-of-school youth themselves, will be attended by about 70 people including Kkumdeulim seniors and juniors and parents. It will be a meaningful event where the youth will reflect on their achievements over the past year and showcase various talents through celebratory performances.
This year, the Yangsan City Out-of-School Youth Support Center achieved 75 academic return outcomes such as passing the 2024 qualification exam and re-enrollment in regular schools, and 27 social entry outcomes including 4 employments and 16 certifications, leading out-of-school youth toward independence and self-development through various support projects.
Additionally, to strengthen the capabilities of out-of-school youth, case management was provided to 223 youth participants with basic competency education, workshop programs, and cafe internship programs. Through collaboration with external organizations, they had opportunities to experience diverse activities such as humanities lectures, economic education, cultural experiences, and workshops. Support was also provided for health checkups and meal assistance to help the independence of youth using the Out-of-School Youth Support Center.
Especially this year, through the Hometown Love Donation Fund project, six programs were planned and operated to meet the needs and expectations of out-of-school youth: companion dog instructor certification course, heavy equipment training certification course, computer ITQ certification course, ultralight drone (3 types) certification course, out-of-school workplace experience program, and media education course. These efforts aimed to assist out-of-school youth in social entry and independence.
Center Director Kang Jeong-sook expressed, “I am grateful to the out-of-school youth who are successfully completing the year and graduating,” and added, “We will continue to actively support them so that they can move toward their dreams with relentless passion and effort despite various circumstances.”
