Social Welfare Organizations Union, Religious Groups, and Various Sectors Participate
District Mayor Oh Eon-seok: "District Actively Supports Local Sharing Activities"

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) continues to extend warm hands through kimchi-making volunteer activities within the region.

The district announced that since early November, when the kimchi-making season begins, various sectors of the community have been participating in kimchi-sharing volunteer work.

On November 27, a kimchi distribution ceremony by the Social Welfare Institutions Union was held at the Dobong-gu Office. On this day, 4,165 kg of kimchi was delivered to 883 vulnerable households during the winter season.

The kimchi was prepared through proceeds from the Social Welfare Institutions Union bazaar and sponsorship funds. Earlier, on November 6, social welfare institutions in Dobong-gu held a joint bazaar at the Dobong-gu Office lawn to raise funds necessary for preparing the kimchi.

Religious organizations also participated in the kimchi-sharing volunteer work. Seowonam, a private welfare hub institution in Dobong-gu, delivered 21,000 heads of kimchi to households in need of care within the community from November 6 to November 28, together with Seowonam followers, members of the local Community Security Council, and the Dobong-gu Mobile Unit.

Residents are also joining in the sharing. On November 7, the Chang 2-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee held a ‘Love Kimchi Sharing’ event, delivering the kimchi made that day to 129 vulnerable households and 9 senior centers in the area. Additionally, on November 20, the Banghak 1-dong Volunteer Camp held a ‘Kimchi Day’ event, providing kimchi to elderly living alone and other households in need within the community.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Thanks to the volunteer and donation activities from all sectors, this winter will be especially warm,” adding, “The district will actively cooperate and support any efforts that help practice sharing within the community.”
