The Jeonnam Hanbok Culture Creation Center opened in Boseong on the 29th of last month.

At the opening ceremony, key figures including Seo Hyung-bin, Vice Governor of Boseong County, Kim Kyung-yeol, Chairman of the Boseong County Council, officials from the Korea Craft & Design Cultural Promotion Agency, and about 200 local residents attended. The ceremony featured an exhibition of various hanbok designs combining traditional hanbok with modern interpretations, as well as a hanbok fashion show, which received great acclaim. Additionally, the event honored the historical value of hanbok culture in the Jeonnam region and presented the center’s vision to lead a future-oriented hanbok industry.

In May, Jeonnam Province was selected as the fifth site for the establishment of a ‘Regional Hanbok Culture Creation Center’ through a competition hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Craft & Design Cultural Promotion Agency.

The Jeonnam Hanbok Culture Creation Center will continue to promote the charm of hanbok to local residents and tourists through various cultural programs and creative support projects.

Various projects will also be carried out in collaboration with local hanbok designers and artisans to reinterpret hanbok in a modern and creative way. Through this, Jeonnam Province plans to lead the globalization of traditional culture including hanbok and develop it into a sustainable cultural industry.
